Varberg Concert Association

Varberg Concert Association arranges 8–10 high-quality classical concerts per year in Varberg. The programmes include a range of styles of classical music, predominantly from Europe and the Americas. Programmes range from ”early music” via Baroque, Viennese classical music and 20th-century music to contemporary compositions. Our professional artists include, e.g., instrumental soloists, string ensembles, wind ensembles, symphony orchestras, percussion ensembles, choirs and solo singers accompanied by piano or other instruments. 

We strive to include both female and male composers as well as female and male artists. The Association´s home stage is the Varberg Theatre, a neo-Renaissance edifice from 1894, located in Engelbrektsgatan 5.

Varberg Concert Association is a politically and confessionally independent non-profit association. Founded in 1985, the Association currently comprises about 130 members. Its board has 8–10 members. Subsidies are received from public bodies but not from private sponsors. The Association has adopted a sustainability policy.

Every year, the Association assigns one to three grants to highly qualified young music students in Varberg. Pupils studying music at the municipal Cultural School are often invited to attend the concerts and to speak with the artists during the intermission. 

TICKETS

Membership at a price of 1,200 SEK per year gives access to all Varberg Concert Association concerts during the season, August–June. Please contact kassan@varbergskonsertforening.se. Single tickets at 200 SEK can also be purchased in the box office from 1 hr before concerts; cash or Swish only (not credit cards). Attendants under 20 yr: admission free. 

CONCERT PROPOSALS FROM ARTISTS 

Proposals are welcome to program@varbergskonsertforening.se, preferably accompanied by performance samples on digital media. All proposals will be scrutinized and stored for future programme planning. Contact will be taken concerning proposals assessed as qualifying for inclusion in programme scheduling.
